In the summer of 2008, Khalil and I were discussing the events surrounding that historical Presidential election year. Then candidate Sen. Barack Obama had just completed one of his many debates. Khalil, who had listened most intently, turned to me and proudly said, “Momma, he did a great job! I would really like to meet him one day.” With confidence, I replied, “You can be him one day!”
